Being on Academic Probation is not a badge of failure.  It is an opportunity to own your personal story…and write the next chapter toward your success.  Learning Specialists are here to help you achieve your goals through the help of the Raptor Flight Guide, a handbook that we have developed here at The Learning Center.  Please take a moment to read the Introduction Letter that begins the booklet.  We are standing by, ready to help you!  To make an appointment, contact rclc@camden.rutgers.edu, or you can go right through Raptor Connect and schedule the appointment there.

Dear Student,
So…you are on Probation.  Your GPA has slipped.  You may be feeling anxious, depressed, nervous, scared, or even have thoughts of giving up on your college journey.  Your feelings are valid, and I appreciate your showing up here to make it better.

There is help. Welcome to The Raptor Flight Program.

As part of our commitment to helping you succeed here at Rutgers University’s Camden campus, I have assembled a plan for you based on research into what leads students to probation – and what can be done to help you take flight so that you can and will walk across the stage to claim the degree that will be rightfully and fairly yours.

What you have here is a unique opportunity.  For some, college seems “easier”.  You may witness students connect to classes and resources more easily, you may see them socially acclimate to the college environment more readily, and you may wonder to yourself if that will ever be the case for you.

The answer is YES – it is available to you.  You are not here by accident.  You belong here, and we will walk a journey together that entails a hard, honest look at past behaviors, what you want to change, and how we can do it – together.

Right now, in this moment, you have a choice.  Will you run, or will you face the reality of your situation and try to do better?  If you so choose to do better, I will help you.  We will help you.
That is our commitment to you.  Onward and upward we go!
